Delivering the Academy
Placing the development of the relevant digital skills and competencies at their heart, the Construction & Civil Engineering Academy based at the Winwick Road campus of Warrington & Vale Royal College will drive collaboration between the college, employers and the local authority to develop, commercialise and promote digital technologies for the construction industry and the in-parallel skills training that supports it.
The Academy will deliver bespoke skills training packages and professional qualifications for partner employers and expand the range of technical qualifications and apprenticeships offered in Warrington to students (prospective employees) for the construction, nuclear and allied industries. The specialist equipment will cement the use of digital technology in building construction from concept, first principles through to build across the complex footprint of the built environment.
It is envisaged that the Academy at Warrington & Vale Royal College will be of national significance, a renowned centre of excellence and modelled on the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre. Warrington & Vale Royal College will work alongside Leeds College of Building to form a ‘trans-pennine’ strategic partnership that will support the investment in this project as ‘front runners’ in the digitalisation and greening of the construction industry, sharing resources and best practice.
