What we collect
Where to leave your items
Leave them outside your home by 7.00 am on the arranged collection day - and no earlier than 24 hours before. Make sure:
- they’re dry
- they’re easy to get at, not behind locked gates or sheds
- it’s clear what the items are
- you only leave out the items you’ve arranged to be collected
If instructions are not followed, collections will not be made and no refund will be given.
Please make sure your items are left outside for collection. Items will NOT be collected from inside your home.
Booking a collection
To book a collection of your unwanted items, please sign in to your My Warrington account or register for one. Our online form will then help you make your booking. You will need to read and accept our Terms and Conditions before booking.
If you need to cancel or change your collection
If you want to change your collection day or cancel your collection and receive a refund please sign in to your My Warrington account.
We can’t give you a refund if you change your booking less than two working days before, or if we get there and we can’t collect your items - for example if we can’t get to them or if they’re wet, dirty or stained.
If you are unable to book online
Please get in touch with Contact Warrington.
What happens to your items
They’re collected by Changing Lives in Warrington, a charity which gives employment, training and development opportunities to local people. They reuse and recycle your pre-loved furniture and electrical goods.
Other ways to get rid of large items
Donate to a local charity shop
Some local charities will come and pick up your items for free, and sell them at affordable prices in their community shop.
Take them to a recycling centre
It’s free to take them to a community recycling centre, but before you go please check what items you can take to each centre, and whether you need a permit.
Give them away online
List them on a recycling website, app or facebook group.
Ask the retailer to dispose of it
If you’ve bought a new electrical item to replace an old one, the company you bought it from must provide a way for you to get rid of the old one, even if you didn’t buy it from them originally. Contact them directly and ask about their ‘take back’ service.
Avoid illegal collections or fly-tipping
When you ask someone to get rid of your items, it’s up to you to make sure they have a license to do so. If someone dumps or fly-tips your items illegally, you could be prosecuted. Check they are on the register of waste carriers, brokers and dealers on the Environment Agency website.
