The Warrington Climate Emergency Forum returns for the second year, with a programme of events around the time of the UN's climate change summit.

The programme offers a range of opportunities for local people in Warrington to engage on climate action.

 

Don't waste energy, save money

Tuesday 22 October from 7pm – 9.30pm

Come along to Lymm Village Hall for information and advice on cutting your energy bills, gas or oil boiler advice, advice to be more energy efficient, and talk to experts who will be on hand to explain it all. You will also be able to meet local people who have taken the plunge and take part in their expert panel Q&A. 

Showcasing the Walton heat pump project

Come along to this short lunchtime webinar to hear about the council's recent project to replace a gas heating system with a ground source heat pump at Walton Hall. 

Hear about the challenges involved to deliver the project in a Grade II listed building, and learn about the technology used and its role in decarbonising heating.  

Sky Garden volunteer drop-in

See how an area of the Golden Square car park has been transformed into a haven for wildlife, and meet the friendly volunteers involved in the project. 

During the tour of the Sky Garden, you will get the chance to help look after the garden and find out more about volunteering. 

Energy Efficiency Café for landlords

Friday 15 November from 1pm - 4pm

Curious about energy efficiency within the private rented sector? Retrofit for Lets is a government funded project exploring the future of rented homes with landlords and tenants. 

Landlords can drop in any time to Outset Café for a short chat and a complimentary drink. You would then have the option of taking up a free retrofit assessment, to provide a more in-depth evaluation of energy efficiency within the property.

Saturday 16 November from 10am - 1pm

Free drop-in repair service! No booking required - last repairs at 12.30pm.

The Birchwood Repair Café is a free community repair service giving you the chance to fix broken items keeping them in use and out of the waste stream. A team of volunteers are on hand who can help fix a variety of items including but not limited to bikes, electric goods, electronics, clothes and zips and costume jewellery.

Bring items for repair along to Birchwood Youth and Community Centre on Delentry Drive from 10am. Donations are welcome but are not required. There will be a pop-up café selling homemade cakes.

You can also find out about the work of the Warrington Climate Emergency Commission and how you can play a part in responding to the climate emergency.

Climate Express: Warrington's local response to the climate emergency

Thursday 21 November from 5.30pm - 8pm

An evening event hosted by the University of Chester and Warrington Climate Emergency Commission. Take inspiration from others taking practical action in response to the climate and ecological emergencies in Warrington. Hear the story so far followed by a series of short presentations to illustrate local action.

Connect with and learn from others in the “marketplace” space and start planning you next steps to help amplify the impact of local action.

Join us to hear the results of a youth-led community conversation about the future of Warrington in a climate changing world. The project involves gathering insights through a series of conversations with local people and working with an artist to capture this in a vision for the future of Warrington. 

The project will culminate at this event, with the young people presenting their work and findings of a positive vision for Warrington in a climate changing world.
