Town centre wardens

New officers to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve the look of the town centre.

Detached youth work

A seven-night per week programme, working with teenagers and young adults in the Town Centre and surrounding Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) hotspots, with the aim of engaging young people involved in or at risk of crime and ASB, in positive diversionary activities.

Warrington Shopmobility

Upgrading the fleet via the purchase of 30 new mobility scooters and wheelchairs. equipment designed for heavier users.

 

Community and neighbourhood infrastructure projects

Improvement for community facilities and green spaces

A programme of improvements to the community centre building and/or surrounding green spaces in Padgate, Orford, Greenwood, Culcheth, Fearnhead and Westy.

These are our larger and busier community centres and these improvements will lead to more classes being delivered, more hiring and use by community groups, including “after hours”, and more use of outdoor garden space by the local community.

 

Creation of and improvements to local green spaces

Sports pitches improvements

Delivering improved drainage solutions and pitch quality, reducing the number of cancelled matches and games, improving the health and wellbeing of the wider community.

Public open space dog control

A new statutory Public Open Space Protection Order (PSPO), creating powers to enforce dog fouling and control. This is being supported by will be a public awareness and compliance campaign, including signage, social media and work with volunteers and community groups.

Local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities

Cultural Programme

A programme for 2023-2025 of events, performances, exhibitions and installations across Warrington.

Pyramid Arts Centre and temporary venue equipment

Purchase of new sound, lighting, audio-visual and staging equipment for the Pyramid’s temporary pop-up site which is being set up  in Golden Square while the Town Deal-funded works to transform Pyramid into an arts and culture hub are carried out. This equipment will be moved into the Pyramid once the works on the building are completed in 2025.

 

Support for active travel enhancements

Active Travel Corridors

A package of works along key active travel corridors, to provide a long-term solution to ease ongoing maintenance and create a safe and attractive network. In addition, there will be a package of targeted interventions at prioritised gateway locations to our greenway network across the borough.

Town Centre Cycle Hubs

Investment in expanded provision of secure cycle hubs within the town centre to encourage and support cycling and active travel.

Travel Signage and Street Furniture

A package of improvements to a select number of routes across the borough, supporting our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).

 

Impactful volunteering and/or social action projects

Connected Communities

Connecting people, communities and services to enable our residents to live well. This includes providing information, advice and support at the right time and in the right place, providing a Talking Point, and supporting communities with grants and infrastructure support.

Living Well Virtual Hub

Web-based support for community engagement, accessibility and digital inclusion buddying.

An Appetite for Living Well

A project developed in consultation with the local community and the voluntary sector, with the focus on affordable food. Eight community pantries will be established in local venues, aligned with Talking Points, and including sessions on cooking, healthy eating and family budgeting. There will also be a van to service outlying areas, including Rixton, Croft, Culcheth and Burtonwood.

 

Local sports facilities, tournaments, teams and leagues

Support for sports facilities and events

Supporting local sports clubs increase participation and build capacity through funding to help them improve their facilities and organise, promote and stage events.

Capacity building and infrastructure support for local groups

Enhanced Volunteer Training

A programme to enhance current volunteer training by:

  • Extending the reach of the core volunteering programme, and improving the diversity of volunteers
  • Matching volunteers with the most appropriate teams to receive specialist training
  • organising internal and external training for more experienced volunteers to support the community and other volunteers with more specialist knowledge.

 

Relevant feasibility studies

Pyramid / Parr Hall Improvements Feasibility Study

Work to look at any additional work required for the ongoing Pyramid refurbishment, and also improvements to the Parr Hall.

 

Investment and support for digital connectivity for local community facilities

Improving Digital Inclusion

A programme of digital inclusion measures, including:

  • upgrades to digital facilities in community centres
  • installation of AV equipment and/or smart screens
  • a programme of digital learning sessions
  • expanding our programme of Techy Tea Parties (“Making Digital Fun”)
  • enhancing digital advertising on large screens and bus shelters
