Fearnhead Community Centre
The centre is a fully staffed site between 9am and 5pm (Mondays-Fridays) with the Communities Team available to support with any enquiries or health and wellbeing concerns. This could include advice and information regarding What’s on, information about the Food Bank and affordable food provision available at the Food Pantry and benefits related advice.
The centre is Dementia Friendly, supported by a large car park and is fully Wi Fi enabled.
The Centre has a large Hall able to fit 100 people (theatre style) and 60 people (cabaret style) which is assisted by a food preparation area. This room can support a wide variety of activities and events. Examples of activities delivered currently are a range of fitness classes, including low impact aerobics and chair based exercise. We host an indoor bowling club during the winter months and there are regular slimming world classes available plus a wide range of college courses such as floristry and painting.
The main hall supports large and very popular events such as regular afternoon Tea’s, Bingo and pop up sales. The main Hall would be an ideal venue for any large scale event, meeting, or training as it is supported by Audio/Visual equipment.
The lounge area at Fearnhead is supported by a catering kitchen which is available for hire by groups who have the relevant Food hygiene certification in place. The lounge is most suitable for smaller groups such as crafting and creative groups or drop-in sessions as it can comfortably hold 25 people.
The lounge hosts monthly Cllr drop-in surgeries (3rd Wednesday each month between 1pm-3pm) for advice, information, and support.
We have an onsite “Breakfast Brunch Box” Café on Wednesdays (9am-1pm) which is fully staffed by volunteers. If you fancy a lovely hot breakfast that is very reasonably priced and a warm welcome, please do call in.
Activities and groups running in the lounge area will be developed over the next few months to increase the availability of low cost, hot food options, luncheon clubs and community cooking classes in the evenings.
The centre is also home to the Fearnhead Food Pantry which provides low cost, affordable food provision. This runs for 2 days a week currently (Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-1pm) and is supported by volunteers. The Food Pantry will be developed over the next few months to increase the supply of affordable food and expand the opening hours to better cater to families.
The centre also has a small one to one room available for private appointments and a small community garden area that is supported by volunteers and groups to provide a lovely outdoor space.
