We provide training, advice and resources for schools in Warrington.  We support you helping school communities to arrive at school in an active and safe way, looking at how to address specific road safety or pupil travel issues that affect your school journey or school.

A variety of programmes and campaigns are available to suit your school requirements.

Sustainable Modes of Travel to School Strategy

Warrington councils updated  Sustainable Modes of Travel to School has been developed in response to the Education and Inspections Act 2006.

The report outlines our overall vision, objectives and work programme to support and encourage Warrington families to make more active, safe, and environmentally friendly travel to and from school.

Working with schools, parents, pupils and partnership agencies we are encouraging more active modes of travel by promoting, walking, cycling, and scooting, public transport and car sharing through activities and initiatives.

We can offer you support to create a school travel plan.  Travel plans promote safe, sustainable and less car dependent journeys to school. They aim to reduce congestion and increase walking, scooting, cycling and public transport trips. Making the environment around the schools healthier and safer.

Junior Safety Officers

The junior safety officer scheme allows children to talk about travel and road safety in their school, raising road safety awareness with other pupils, teachers and the wider community, while working with Road Safety Officers.

Scooter Training

Aimed at years 1 and 2, learning how to safely ride a scooter has many benefits. The aim of the sessions is to establish the basic skills and knowledge to start riding safely, understanding spatial awareness and the ability to navigate the ride to school more safely.

Bikeabillity

Bikeability Cycle Training

Delivered in partnership with Bikeright and available to all schools, Bikeability is designed to give children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads. We offer a variety of training ranging from balance bike training through to level 3 where pupils learn to plan and make independent journeys on busier roads.

We also offer adult cycle training and family rides.
