With Warrington’s economic success, regeneration, and growth we are seeking an enthusiastic person to work as a Street Lighting Electrician within the councils Highway Asset Maintenance and Street Works Team.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic with an ability to work to a high professional standard, have a strong background in the industry and have an ability to organise workloads around tight deadlines.
The role
The role of the Street Lighting Electrician is to carryout electrical testing, installation, and maintenance of the council’s highway assets to ensure it fulfils its statutory obligations and meets the wider corporate aims and objectives of the Council.
Working alongside experienced staff the post holder will liaise with various stakeholders, including contractors, to ensure the seamless delivery of the service to agreed programmes.
Investigate and respond to request for services, carrying out both routine and reactive repairs to ensure service delivery is maintained.
You will be expected to undertake all aspects of electrical and installation works relating to highway assets and support the wider services as and when required.
What's needed?
You will have an eye for detail, accuracy, and quality, to effectively carryout electrical testing and repairs.
You will require strong communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and an ability to be flexible to meet changing demands.
You will ideally have knowledge and experience of working in a highways environment or have transferable skills to fulfil this role.
You will have extensive knowledge and experience of street lighting installations and associated maintenance/electrical testing.
You will have City & Guilds Part 2 or equivalent in Electrical Installation works. City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing is desirable.
You will have experience in the installation of highway assets, supported by a good working knowledge off the IEE Wiring Regulation BS7671 and certification in the 18th Edition wiring regulations is desirable.
You will be able to work at heights of up to 14 metres in MEWP.
You will be physically fit to complete all duties, be able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions, have excellent customer care skills and be willing to undertake any necessary training to fully complete the role and be available to be on the out of hours call out rota.
You will ideally have a full HGV driving licence, (C1+E) a current Drivers Qualification card (CPC), although HGV training may be provide for the right candidate (HGV training must be completed within 3 months of taking up the post).
