The role

Grappenhall Heys is an outstanding and popular Community Primary School, situated in South Warrington. We have wonderful well-motivated pupils, an enthusiastic and committed staff and Governing Body, inspirational senior leaders, supportive parents and strong links with the community.

The school is seeking to appoint caring, enthusiastic teaching assistants who can support teaching and learning throughout school and are willing to take part in the life of the school. The roles will involve working one-to-one, supporting children in a classroom setting, as well as supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.

As a growing school, we have availability for THREE 1:1 Teaching Assistants Level 2 – Fixed term for two terms to 31st August 2025 (with the possibility of extending).

  • Post 1 - Key Stage 2 post is Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm (32.5 hours per week)
  • Post 2 - Key Stage 1 post is Monday to Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm (30 hours per week)
  • Post 3 - Key Stage 2 post is Monday and Friday afternoons 1:00pm – 3:30pm (5 hours per week) This post may include intimate care

Applications are invited from enthusiastic teaching assistants who:

  • can work alongside teachers and other support staff to support and develop the literacy and numeracy skills of pupils
  • have an ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with the pupils, parents and staff
  • have experience of working with children with specific needs
  • can work as part of a team
  • demonstrate strong behaviour management skills in line with school policy
  • conform to school policies and procedures – safeguarding, welfare, health and safety and data protection
  • undergo any training required in order to perform relevant duties efficiently
  • support the teaching of a curriculum that allows pupils to achieve and make progress
  • be a patient and understanding champion of vulnerable pupils

The posts also include pastoral care duties including lunchtime pupil support.
