An opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Waste and Recycling Service for the recruitment of a Waste and Recycling Manager based at Woolston Depot.. This post provides an exciting opportunity for a positive, self-motivated individual with good people skills to join our ambitious management team, reporting directly to the Waste Services Manager the role will provide support to an established team of experienced officers managing all aspects of Waste collection and disposal. 

The role

Based at Woolston Depot, you will play a key role in developing and implementing service improvement plans, as well as managing the day to day delivery of the Council’s services for recycling, garden, residual and trade waste ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to the highest operational standards. We are looking for an energetic individual with a progressive outlook, extensive staff management experience, including a track record of leading, developing and motivating individuals and teams. The successful applicant will have experience of managing a large multi-disciplinary workforce delivering front-line public waste collection, reviewing/revising rounds, implementing change, actively managing sickness and increasing income.

You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of health, safety and waste legislation and experience of ensuring policies are up to date and followed in practice.

You will need strong communication and problem solving skills, experience of contract management, performance reporting and working to deadlines.

Hours of work are for 37 hours per week over a 4 day working week Tuesday to Friday.
