The registration service are responsible for registering births, deaths and marriages across Warrington. Since the council offices opened - where the registration service is based - 809 ceremonies have taken place in the large ceremony room, with almost 300 in the smaller statutory space. In 2023/24, a total of 262 ceremonies took place in the ceremony room alone.
Equally in 2023/2024, the team:
- registered 2,406 births and 2,409 deaths
- performed and registered 426 marriages and civil partnerships
- registered a further 82 church marriages
- attested 1,456 notices of marriage and civil partnership
- made 177 new British Citizens by performing group and private citizenship ceremonies – the very last stage in the process of becoming a British national.
- The team also produced more than 15,000 certificates!
The registration service continue to out peform compared to regional and national peers in terms of timeliness of registrations.
