The Tour of Britain Women takes place in Warrington on Saturday 8 June, with the iconic Golden Gates being the perfect backdrop for both the start and finish for the leg.

With plenty of activities taking place at the Tour Village on Bank Park from 10am, and the riders departing the Golden Gates at 11am, there’ll be plenty for all the family to soak up on the day.

Activities and showcases at the Bank Park Tour Village will include stalls and special displays, exhibits from race partners and the bike hub.

Plan your journey to the town centre

There will be a number of permanent and temporary road closures in place on the day, so make sure you know where you can travel if you’re driving in or getting the bus. The full list of road closures can be found on the council website.

The Town Hall car park will be closed on the day, but parking is still available at Golden Square and Time Square. The Golden Square car park will have no access/ exit for a short period during the day as the cyclists pass – please bear this in mind.

Get ready to line the route!

The riders will depart the Golden Gates at around 11am and return at around 2.15pm. The route, which takes the riders into Cheshire and then back into Warrington, and on to the town centre, will have plenty of areas for spectators to gather and cheer on the cyclists.

You can look at the full route on the Tour of Britain Women webpage to plan where you can get the best vantage point to cheer on the peleton.

Make a day of it

Saturday 8 June promises to be a great family day out, with Warrington Pride also taking place in the town centre. With the Pride parade and activities taking place across Time Square and Golden Square, there’s plenty to do and see after the peleton departs at 11am.

Alongside the Tour Village and Warrington Pride, residents and visitors will also get the chance to  discover the thrilling history of cycling at the ‘On Yer Bike’ exhibition at Warrington museum, browse Golden Square shopping centre, visit Time Square, and catch their breath in the cultural quarter which features bars, restaurants, Queen’s Gardens and the Pyramid Arts Centre and Parr Hall.
