The council and its partners are recognising Carers Rights Day this week by promoting the support available to carers in the town and helping carers to recognise their rights.

Carers Rights Day aims to highlight the rights available to carers of all ages. The day also raises awareness of the information and advice available to carers to support them in their caring role.

The Warrington Carers Strategy sets out the commitments and priorities to carers in Warrington. The strategy has been revised for 2025 - 2028 following comprehensive feedback and consultation from local carers and partners. In Warrington, carers have access to support from a range of services including Warrington Carers Hub, provided by nCompass, and the council’s carers support team.

To launch the latest Warrington Carers Strategy and to recognise Carers Rights Day, Warrington Carers Hub is hosting an event in the town centre and inviting carers to join:

Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, cabinet member for statutory health and adult social care, said: “Carers fulfil an absolutely vital role. It is important carers have access to information about their rights to help ease some of the challenges associated with caring, whether that’s financial support or information about carer’s leave to help them in their caring role.

“The offer to carers in Warrington and the commitment our services are making to carers is outlined within the Warrington Carers Strategy. I’m delighted we’re revising the strategy as there has been considerable engagement with carers to ensure the strategy reflects the views and opinions of what carers in Warrington need to support them.”
