The Mayor’s Charity Golf Day will take place at Warrington’s premier municipal golf course, situated at the heart of Walton Hall and Gardens, on Saturday 30 April.
Walton Hall Golf Course is owned and maintained by the council and meanders through a beautiful layout of lovingly maintained greens lined with mature trees, with fantastic views over the Cheshire countryside.
The course and club is run by golf pros Nick Stark and Paul Hodgson who both have over 20 years professional experience within the profession.
The tournament will be a Calcutta Stableford game, where golfers tee off in groups of four, with each golfer playing their own ball throughout. So there are four golf balls in play, with the best score counting on each hole.
To take part, the cost is £200 for a team of four, or £60 for individual entries. Men must have a maximum handicap of 28 and ladies, a maximum handicap of 36.
On the day, registration will start from 8.30am with a 10am tee time. Refreshments will be served before the game, with hot drinks and breakfast sandwiches on offer, followed by a buffet lunch after the tournament.
There will be prizes for the winning team and runners up, and also an award for the nearest the pin and longest drive.
The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Maureen Creaghan, said: “This golf day is a great way for people to come together and have a fun-filled day, while helping to raise money for charities that do vital work to support people in Warrington.
“My brother and Consort, John, is a keen golfer and will be coming along to take part. We can’t wait to get out there, meet some new people and enjoy a wonderful day out at this beautiful course.
“I would like to thank Nick and Paul, and the team at Walton, for their help to organise this event and I’m looking forward to a fantastic occasion. Fingers crossed for a beautiful, blue-sky day!”
All proceeds will go towards the Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2020-22 which supports the following organisations:
- Forget Me Not – caring for patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia
- JUMP – providing photograph and film memories for children with life limiting illnesses in the North West and Wales
- Lifetime – providing support and services for elderly residents
- PAPYRUS – a charity supporting the prevention of young suicide
