Get walking

Walking is a great way to improve your health, fitness, wellbeing, sleep patterns and energy levels. Walking can also help you reach the NHS recommended 10,000 steps a day, which can significantly improve your health, improve your knowledge of the local area and reduce stress.

Cycling is a quick, cheap and fun way of getting to and from Roebuck Plaza.

Cycling is one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your daily routine, and helps improve your fitness and health. If you’ve not been on a bike for a while, we can help you get back into the saddle.

Free cycle training

We can arrange free cycle training to help you build your confidence. This is delivered on a one-to-one or small group basis, and can be tailored to meet your specific needs. The courses are arranged at a time to suit you. More information is available at warrington.gov.uk/cycle-training.

Dr Bike

The council are planning some Dr Bike (bike maintenance) events at  Roebuck Plaza. The events will allow our mechanics to service your bike free of charge, checking the condition, undertaking work to improve  the basic safety of your bike and providing advice relating to future  improvements and work on your bike. The events will be promoted so keep an eye out for further information about them.

Help purchasing a bike

As a resident of Roebuck Plaza, we are offering you a £50 voucher towards the purchase of a bike or cycling accessories at Halfords.  You can apply for one of either a cycle, bus or car club voucher per household. To apply for the voucher, please email travelwarrington@warrington.gov.uk

Some employers offer a Cycle2Work scheme, which allows you to purchase bikes tax free and pay for the bike monthly through a salary sacrifice scheme. Contact your company’s Human Resource department to find out if your company offers this scheme and to find out more information.

Parking and locker facilities

144 cycle parking spaces are available within the Roebuck Plaza development, which are for use by residents and visitors. These spaces are available free of charge.

Bus

Warrington’s bus station is located 300m from Roebuck Plaza and provides access to all bus services within Warrington. The bus network map shows the locations you can access by bus.

The main bus operator in Warrington is Warrington’s Own Buses. You can find times, routes and ticket information on their website:

As a resident of this development, you can apply for a “taster ticket” which allows you free / discounted travel by bus up to a value of £50. The taster ticket will allow you try travelling by bus and see how you find it. You can apply for one of either a cycle, bus or car club voucher per household

Please contact travelwarrington@warrington.gov.uk for more information.  You will also need to download the Touch and Go Warrington app warringtonsownbuses.co.uk/touch-go onto your phone as the voucher value will be uploaded onto this.

The Touch and Go Warrington app enables you to plan your journey, check timetables, get a live departure board for your stop, and enables you to see where your bus is on the map. You can also buy tickets in advance on the app using Apple Pay, Google Pay or a credit / debit card.

A Touch and Go Smartcard is also available which allows you to pre-load with the ticket of your choice. Both the smartcard and app are accepted on all Warrington's Own Buses services. You can also pay by contactless card or cash on the bus if you would prefer.

Rail

There are seven railway stations in Warrington and two main railway lines taking you north or south and east or west.

Both Warrington Bank Quay and Warrington Central are both within easy access of Roebuck Plaza.

Warrington Central Station

Warrington Central Station is the closest station to Roebuck Plaza and provides services to both Liverpool and Manchester Oxford Road / Airport. More local stops are also accessible including Widnes, Halewood, Liverpool South Parkway, Glazebrook, Irlam and Deansgate.

Warrington Bank Quay

Warrington Bank Quay Station is also located within the town centre and provides regular train services. Warrington Bank Quay lies on the West Coast Main Line. A number of local services stop at Bank Quay including Frodsham, Helsby, Runcorn East, Newton-le-Willows, Liverpool and Manchester.

Car club and Car Sharing

Car share

If you’re travelling from further away, why not consider reducing your travel costs by sharing your lift? It will save you money, saves you the hassle of finding a car parking space when you arrive, and allows you to meet new friends.

Liftshare provide a car sharing service liftshare.com/uk which enables you to search for others making a similar journey and arrange to share your journey. Registering and searching for partners is free of charge and won’t impact on your car insurance. You don’t have to reciprocate the journey, instead a mileage cost can be charged to cover the costs of the additional passenger.

Car club

Car club vehicles are currently available within Time Square multi-storey car park for you to use for journeys which you need to undertake by car.  Two vehicles are located on the ground floor and can be rented on an hourly or daily basis. The vehicles are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The car club scheme is run by Co-Wheels and vehicles can be booked online 

Membership is subject to some restrictions, details of which can be found on Co-Wheels website. The rental cost for a vehicle is from £5.50 per hour.

As a resident to this development, you are entitled to free membership and £20 credit to the Warrington Car Club

Shop green, shop local!

Roebuck Plaza is located in Warrington town centre which gives you access to a wide range of retailers and leisure activities right on your doorstep. Not only does shopping local save you time and money it's also better for the environment.

Within half a mile or less of your front door there are lots of supermarkets available for your weekly shop including Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Lidl, Aldi and Iceland. 

For larger purchases you can take advantage of being in a high speed internet connection area, making it easy and quick to access online services and facilities and to make use of home delivery services.

You will also find independent traders within Warrington Market offering a range of services from hairdressing to trainer restoration. The market also has a food hall offering a wide range of hot and cold food options from around the world. .

There's a bustling social scene within the Cultural Quarter - Why not catch a show at the Parr Hall or enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many restaurants and bars on offer. 

For families check out Time Square and the Golden Square shopping centre - there's always something on from artisan markets to family film screenings under the Old Fish Market canopy.
