Bus Interchange Improvements

A programme of improvements to our town centre bus interchange, including customer facilities and communication channels (using screens and paper-based information), cleanliness, window dressing and additional business facility improvements.

Town Centre / Visitor Economy

The appointment of a town centre cultural events development officer to support the creation, planning, and delivery of an annual town centre events schedule, aimed at engaging more people in culture and heritage and increasing town centre footfall.

Warrington Town Hall heritage

Upgrades to the Grade I listed Town Hall building, to enable use by community and voluntary groups. Activities that could be enabled by the proposed work include:

  • tours of the Town Hall, heritage breakfasts and afternoon teas
  • Heritage open days and local history events, including ‘living history; bringing characters to life to tell the stories of the Town Hall’s past
  • specific events such as Burns Night Supper, Murder Mystery Nights and Ladies’ Night
  • an art exhibition on the ground floor, telling the story of the Town Hall
  • school visits, partnering with other heritage attractions in the town
Strengthening local entrepreneurial ecosystems

Community Catalyst

The creation of a network of community micro enterprises, located across Warrington, offering a personalised, flexible approach to support and care in the community.  This will help reduce the pressure on statutory services, support local people to become self-employed and utilise their strengths.

Supporting decarbonisation whilst growing the local economy

Warrington – Race to Zero 

Warrington – Race to Zero is for businesses looking to reduce their environmental impact. This offers essential support and guidance on decarbonisation, with a package of decarbonisation business support and funding available to deliver:

  • Carbon footprint assessments
  • the installation of renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency improvements, and waste reduction measures
  • one-to-one consultancy, skills development, training workshops, and access to networks of sustainability experts

The Pledge

The Pledge will:

  • run regular network meetings, bringing together schools, colleges and employers
  • facilitate recruitment events including Autumn and Spring term careers and apprenticeship fairs, and co-ordinate workplace experiences and projects
  • recruit employers to support school and college employability activity, such as interview preparation and CV writing
  • run an employment readiness programme, including mock assessment centres (for year 11 and 13)
