I wish to object to the local plan on the following grounds;
1. Loss of green belt. I do not feel the use of green belt land for the proposed housing development is justified. Brownfield sites should be fully utilised before encroaching on green belt land. I appreciate this will be less profitable for developers as houses in the proposed area will attract a much higher profit margin, especially given the limited commitment to "affordable" housing. Housing development policy should reflect the needs of residents rather than those of developers.
2. The inclusion of Thelwall Hays in the plan. This is a much utilised and valued area especially the open aspect over farmland from the Trans Pennine Trail. This area supports a range of wildlife including populations of rapidly declining farmland birds such as Tree Sparrows and Yellowhammers.
3. The lack of improved transport links which will lead to increased road traffic and congestion between the proposed developments and the town centre which are already at full capacity, especially the crossings over the Manchester Ship Canal.
