I am appalled that these plans for development take place on green belt land. What is even the point of declaring land "green belt" if development is still going to go ahead on it?
The fact that the plans are presented as 'only' 5% of the Warrington green belt is horribly misleading. Firstly, 5% is still a significant chunk. Secondly, when it is mostly coming from one corner of the green belt then it leaves a massive dent in the green belt in that area.
Brownfield sites are clearly the answer here. By developing within the town centre you would be killing two birds with one stone.
The other serious objection I have to this development is the lack of thought that has gone into transportation. This enormous volume of housing concentrated in South Warrington is going to put immense strain on the existing roads. It's already bad enough trying to get into or across Warrington during rush hour - that's without adding another 4000 cars onto the roads. Crossing Bridgewater canal is going to be virtually impossible except at a few already overused points.
