Having looked at the recently published revised local plan, I feel it is necessary to voice my concerns. The new plan is a slight improvement on the old, but is still fundamentally unsound. Why given there is still so much brown land sites within the town and the demand for more housing in the town is minimal should so much irreplaceable green belt land be built on? What does green belt designation mean if it can just be massively built on in this way?
There are other concerns, particularly the dearth of routes from South Warrington northwards into the town centre and the lack of infrastructure in the form of schools, shops, health facilities etc. Can Stockton Heath seriously be expected to cope with this extra pressure?
It would appear that South Warrington?s green belt is being sacrificed so that people who work in Manchester or Liverpool can commute by car from Warrington. What value does that give the town? And how is it sustainable development?
