In response to the proposals identifying Thelwall Heys as a development opportunity to contain 310 homes, I refer you to the Inspectors report in 2005 concerning the Councils UDP. He stated, ?Thelwall Heys does fulfil Greenbelt purposes and is worthy of protection from inappropriate development?. Nothing has changed since then except the persistence of landowners and developers to rape the countryside in pursuit of profit.
The Prime Minister has also stated, ?There is no reason that the countryside should be lost to new homes, you can see how much room there is on brownfield sites?.
Peel Hall becoming available for development must be a further factor for consideration, reducing the housing target by 1200 houses. Then of course there are the brownfield sites, such as Fiddlers Ferry and others not yet identified.
Finally, access and entry to the site is proposed at the junction with Cliff Lane and Knutsford Road (A50) ?? one way in and one way out at what is now a busy , dangerous spot. We are not speaking of mere congestion but acute danger if in excess of 600 vehicles leave and return on the one proposed route.
We have lived within no more than 500 yards of Thelwall Heys for nearly 60 years and know and appreciate the value of its attractive pastoral setting and the fact it consists of the best and most versatile agricultural land. It is also a haven for birds, many of which are on the endangered list.
Bordering the Bridgewater Canal, any housing development should not be permitted on its banks, it would spoil the pleasant nature of walking the towpath
These factors are sufficient enough to preserve Thelwall Heys as Greenbelt.
