Green belt development rather than utilising Brownfield sites is contrary to objective of assisting urban regeneration. Plan has not taken into account brownfield alternatives. Loss of Green Belt would be damaging to character of South Warrington. Environmental impact not adequately addressed. No exceptional circumstances for Green Belt release - contrary to national policy.

Summary of comments

Site has special landscape character status and is quality agricultural land - should be protected. No assessment carried out on impact on wildlife. Flooding likely to increase as a result of development. Negative impact on listed property on site. Plan states that area will be released for development early in plan, contrary to principles of protecting Green belt by building on brownfield sites first.

Summary of comments

WBC unrealistic on projected economic growth - plan should be modified so that growth is scaled down to appropriate levels rather than based on aspirational growth. Plan suggests need for additional warehousing facilities despite already vacant warehouses and shops in area. Plan lacks detail on infrastructure improvements to support proposed development. Proposals for South Warrington increase reliance on cars - add to congestion/pollution issues.

Summary of comments

Proposed housing in South Warrington does not meet needs of residents - lack of affordable housing/social housing. Plan is developer led. Housing need has been based on outdated projections and these should be reassessed. Housing target not deliverable.
