Green belt is critical to the entire local population, not only for air quality but, as the recent Covid 19 restrictions have demonstrated, it is essential for mental and physical health and wellbeing. Many local people and families like to visit Lymm for leisure pursuits because of the green belt and semi rural location. This has been essential during the pandemic and will continue to be.
The destruction of green belt and corresponding increase in traffic from housing development are incompatible with COP26 and with the Government and council plans. Good air quality is essential for our children. The use of more brown field sites and of innovative ways to lessen the impact should be implemented.
The impact of such large-scale housing development will have a seriously negative impact on all the local residents, as there is insufficient infrastructure to support it. The roads are congested already and it is already difficult for elderly pedestrians and for children trying to walk to school safely. Physical and social infrastructure needs to be considered before or at least in parallel with any building plans. The proposed plans are therefore not deliverable.
The proposed logistics complex at Cherry lane is also a huge concern as congestion on the Cherry lane roundabout is already a problem. There are no rail links to this site and this will only increase dependence on road freight and add to pollution.
