Not enough housing proposed in locations where it is needed most - close to town centre and access to good public transport links. Not enough of the right type of housing - more affordable housing, social housing needed. Proposed housing no.'s are unrealistic relative to housing delivery previously achieved. Growth forecasts on which the plan is based have been overstated and need to be reduced - figures are above what the Government methodology indicates.

Summary of comments

Plan suggests that the town centre and other brownfield sites will be developed but does not mandate a requirement to prioritise regeneration of these sites ahead of any consideration of green spaces. Green Belt release for housing in South Warrington will have damaging impact on identity and character of area. WBC need to take a more proactive approach to promoting the use of brownfield sites as a priority. Plan lacks credible detail about the necessary infrastructure already required, and which would be essential to support stated growth ambitions. South Warrington particularly lacks infrastructure to support proposals - more detail needed regarding proposed improvements. Infrastructure delivery should not be left to developers - delivery cannot be guaranteed. Plan lacks detail on social infrastructure delivery to support proposed development. None of the proposals would lead to significant regeneration of town centre. Area will continue becoming a dormitory town to surrounding cities.

Summary of comments

Plan lacks meaningful economic strategy for the town - assumed growth will result from building of new homes, contrary to approach of other planning authorities. No obvious catalyst for growth within the plan.

Summary of comments

Development will not drive large no.'s of new, high-skilled, well-paid jobs. Lacks detail on access, transport improvements, green infrastructure and utilities - left to developers to propose in form of development framework.
