UPSVLP 2465
The Council has identified the fact that ANY development in and around Burtonwood village would be detrimental to the village as a whole. The surrounding housing developments from Earlestown and Newton-Le-Willows, Florida Farm and the increased employment capacity at Omega has exacerbated the dependency on car travel through the village. Any further proposals to build on our green belt would seriously affect air quality, ancient trees and woodlands, and with what we have left of our nature such as Bats, Buzzards and much of the wildlife we are protecting. All this has to be taken into consideration especially as the Climate Change Summit (COP 26) is highlighted as top priority. The extension of the 31.22 hectare site in St Helens will also more than accommodate any housing/development requirements, and will fulfil this objective of protecting our village. The redevelopment of Fiddlers Ferry as a brownfield site is restorative and could be the mini New York of the Town. Therefore no further suggestions of ANY development of ANY GREEN FIELDS around the village should be considered.
