Introduces road safety concerns along Witherwin Avenue in the vicinity of Grappenhall Heys Walled Gardens

Modification if applicable

The section of Witherwin Avenue (from the roundabout junction with Lumb Brook Road to the roundabout junction with Curzon Drive) is already high in traffic as follows: serving local Residents (about to greatly increase in number); serving pupils and parents of Grappenhall Heys Primary School (about to double in size); it contains a crossing point for school children; it is used for very popular access to Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden. The draft plan indicates the intention to use this section of road in the future distributor road network. This further increases road safety dangers particularly for the children crossing to attend school and it is not necessary as an obvious alternative is available. The distributor road could be re-routed from the roundabout junction at Witherwin / Lumb Brook, along Lumb Brook Road to rejoin the draft plan route closer to New Lane. This would by-pass the affected section of Witherwin Avenue without compromise to the overall draft plan intentions.
