Funded childcare places - Disability access fund
There are a number of childcare schemes that will give you free childcare hours, depending on the age of your child and your circumstances;
Disability access fund
This fund is available to childcare providers to help them support children with special educational needs or a disability.
If your child is 3 or 4 years old, in receipt of disability living allowance and is accessing an early education place (funded entitlement place), then you should ask your childcare provider to access this fund. You do not apply yourself, but you can help your childcare provider to apply by giving them your award letter for disability living allowance.
You should also remember that if your child is in receipt of disability living allowance, you can gain access to a funded place with a childcare provider, whilst they are 2 years old.
