Warrington’s healthy weight (Eat Well Feel Well) and physical activity (Active Warrington) plans are important for both the town and it’s residents health and wellbeing.
Both plans were made with many partners (Council, NHS, Voluntary sector), residents life stories and sets out how each plan will work.
Eat Well, Feel Well
Eat Well, Feel Well aims to make Warrington a place where the healthier choice is the easier choice, so people can stay at or get to a healthy weight.
It shows how public health, GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals, voluntary organisations and schools can work together to support people to eat healthier food and be more active where possible. This includes food growing schemes, access to fresh drinking water and healthier food options across the town.
A key aim will be to tackle health inequalities between people of different ages and backgrounds. Also, the impact of factors like how the lack of reliable access to affordable, healthy food can affect a person’s weight.
To support this, Warrington has joined dozens of other councils in adopting the ‘Healthy Weight Declaration (HWD)’. The HWD, by North West based charity Food Active, gives us extra tools and resources to support you to eat well and feel well.
