Warrington’s healthy weight (Eat Well Feel Well) and physical activity (Active Warrington) plans are important for both the town and it’s residents health and wellbeing.

Both plans were made with many partners (Council, NHS, Voluntary sector), residents life stories and sets out how each plan will work.

Eat Well, Feel Well

Eat Well, Feel Well aims to make Warrington a place where the healthier choice is the easier choice, so people can stay at or get to a healthy weight.

It shows how public health, GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals, voluntary organisations and schools can work together to support people to eat healthier food and be more active where possible. This includes food growing schemes, access to fresh drinking water and healthier food options across the town.

A key aim will be to tackle health inequalities between people of different ages and backgrounds. Also, the impact of factors like how the lack of reliable access to affordable, healthy food can affect a person’s weight.

To support this, Warrington has joined dozens of other councils in adopting the ‘Healthy Weight Declaration (HWD)’. The HWD, by North West based charity Food Active, gives us extra tools and resources to support you to eat well and feel well.

Move More, More Often

This Active Warrington-led vision is for Warrington to be a place where being physically active and moving more is normal for all. Regardless of age, gender, sexuality, disability, ethnicity, or income.

The plan shows how all partners will help to increase physical activity opportunities for those who are less likely to be active. It lays out plans to increase the knowledge and skills to talk about the benefits of activity and ways to enable all to move more, more often.

It will focus on building inclusive activity opportunities into communities, health and social care and education settings and workplaces. It also sets outs plans to actively promote how everyone can get involved in sport.

Reporting on progress

We will track how both plans progress with regular reports.
