The role

Are you passionate about making a real difference for children and young people. In Warrington all our children’s homes are Ofsted rated GOOD or OUTSTANDING. We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to be one of two Deputy managers of our new children’s home.

In partnership with our health colleagues, we are opening an innovative residential and outreach service for children with complex needs that aims to support children and young people to live at home and in their communities.

We are looking for experienced and inspiring leaders who shares our passion for supporting our most vulnerable children.

The home will consist of a registered homes manager two deputy managers, a team of senior residential staff, residential care workers, wake night staff and health staff.

The home will offer outreach to families who require support to remain together as well as 4 short to medium term beds registered under the children’s homes regulations 2015.

The successful candidate will benefit from Warrington’s councils’ employees support and rewards program, competitive rates of pay. They will also be part of a group of 7 experienced registered managers and 8 deputy managers in the authority that meet regularly with the service manager to share best practice.

What's needed?

  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and motivate teams.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate positively with complex adolescents.
  • Strong performance management with ability to plan, audit and evaluate.
  • Ability to monitor services and practices to ensure agreed national standards are maintained and to intervene constructively when required.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to autonomously prioritise work.
  • Ability to appropriately professionally challenge and be challenged.
  • Strong commitment to Anti Discriminatory Practice.
  • The ability to manage review and contribute to robust outreach plans for children and young people with complex needs.
  • Strong budget management skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Children’s Homes Regulations and Safeguarding frameworks
  • NVQ level 3 Children car learning and development or equivalent
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, as outlined in the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations including the quality standards - April 2015’ (or willingness to undertake it).
  • To be available and prepared to work evenings and weekends.
  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
