We are looking for an experienced social work manager to manager our Contextual Safeguarding offer to children.  

The role

§      Co-located in the MASH, the Contextual Safeguarding Lead will play a key role in the co-ordination of our safeguarding responses to children at risk of contextual safeguarding. The post holder will ensure all children at risk of CSE, Missing, Criminal Exploitation, Radicalisation, Modern Slavery and Trafficking in Warrington receive an appropriate response.

 

§      The Contextual Safeguarding Lead (alongside the police) will be responsible for reviewing all children who have had a Child Exploitation (CE) Screening Tool completed each week, and chair the multi-agency Contextual Safeguarding Operational Group (CSOG).

 

§      This group considers all children screened as Medium and High risk. The Contextual Safeguarding Lead will ensure robust plans are developed for all children discussed, and have responsibility for monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of these plans.

 

§      The post holder will co-ordinate and chair mapping meetings which will review wider intelligence, consider wider connections between children, and identify wider themes that maybe emerging and across Warrington as a whole.

 

§       A key aspect of the role includes raising awareness of contextual safeguarding across the local authority. The post holder will contribute to training and awareness raising sessions with different professional groups across Warrington.

 

§       The post holder will also work closely with the Children’s Social Work Teams, as well as Early Help and Community Safety and Resilience Services providing consultation and advice on cases where contextual safeguarding maybe a feature. They will ensure staff are equip with appropriate knowledge and skills to both recognise the sign of contextual safeguarding, and ensure proposed work with children and families is effective.

 

§       The post holder will prepare a range of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports regarding contextual safeguarding and missing from home activity. These reports will feed into wider strategic groups across the council.

 

§      The post holder will also contribute to the development of the wider contextual safeguarding strategy and development of practice and services across the local authority.

 

§       The post holder will also have a PAN Cheshire focus, and work with partners and agency across Cheshire to ensure the PAN Cheshire Contextual Safeguarding Strategy is effectively implemented and reviewed. 

What's needed?

We are looking for a manager with extensive background in Children's services, with a knowledge and understanding of complex safeguarding (Child Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Missing, Domestic Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation, Force Marriage, Honour Based Abuse, Radicalisation, Modern Slavery and Trafficking)
