A post of Local Taxation Assistant has become vacant within the Revenues Team in Benefits & Exchequer Services.

Reporting directly to the Local Taxation Team Leader, the post holder will assist with the billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates. 

The role

As part of Benefits and Exchequer Services an opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, motivated and customer focused person, to join our Local Taxation Team. Reporting directly to the Local Taxation Team Leader, the post holder will assist a highly motivated team working in a challenging role, to effectively deliver Benefits & Exchequer Services that are of the highest standards, cost effective and efficient. 

Duties will include a wide range of complex clerical and administrative tasks in order to provide a quality service for the billing and collection of Council Tax, in accordance with current and new Government Legislation and Council Policy. The ability to deal courteously and effectively with both internal and external customers in writing and over the telephone and an ability to handle figures and other data quickly and accurately is essential.

Applicants should have:

• A good standard of education

• Excellent communication skills

• A good track record of working under pressure and achieving deadlines Previous experience of working within a Council Tax environment is essential along with knowledge of council tax rating law

Experience of working within a Council Tax environment is essential.
