The Lighthouse is a 6 bedroomed registered children’s home and the central hub for the No Wrong Door Warrington model as part of the Strengthening Families, Protecting Children Programme (SFPC).

The children who come to live at the home will be mixed gender, aged between 12 and 17 years old and will move in with a proposed onward trajectory to a stable family environment or another plan of permanence. The circumstances for placement with the Lighthouse may include young people who are unable to remain in a birth family setting, foster placement breakdowns and residential care breakdowns. The Lighthouse will offer a package of short-term intensive support to prepare them for the next step.

 

The children and young people living at the Lighthouse may have a range of complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, ODD, moderate learning disabilities etc, and be at high levels of risk due to the following issues:

-          Emotional wellbeing difficulties

-          Experiences of abuse, trauma and/or loss

-          Relationship breakdowns

-          Drug and/or alcohol misuse

-          Criminal Exploitation

-          Child Sexual Exploitation

-          Missing from home episodes

-          Gang/Anti-social behaviour/criminality

-          Separated Children 

The role

There are 4 roles 1 x Permanent 3 x Fixed Term .

The core purpose of this job is to proactively provide the support and interventions to young people to reach their potential. The post holder will be responsible for the direct day-to-day care of young people within a residential home accompanied by other supportive tasks and duties. Additionally, the post holder will also provide support to young people on the edge of care, accommodated in the various other hub placements, and care leavers (including post 18). The post holder will have the required interpersonal skills to adopt relationship based practice, in keeping with our systemic practice model.

Sleep shifts will be a maximum 16.5 hours per shift you can claim sleep rates and enhancements at 20% and 30% on top of your basic income, this averages out at £3000 - £4000 extra in enhancements per year. 

You will be expected to work 37 hours a week and have the opportunity to work additional shifts and claim overtime for this if you wish. 

What's needed?

1. Hold or have commitment to gain QCF Level 3 Diploma Health and Social Care (E) A, I

2. Hold NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People (E) A, I

3. DiPSW, SW Degree, CQSW, CSS or equivalent (D) A, I

4. QCF Level 3 Diploma or NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People (D) A, I

5. Must hold a full driving license and be willing to use your car when on shift.
