About us

The Communities & Wellbeing service provides support and guidance to Warrington residents who need help to improve their physical or mental wellbeing. This is also known as social prescribing. The service also runs the Councils community centres, developing them into thriving community venues.

You will report to the interventions manager who manages a team of wellbeing workers and you will support people to get the right support at the right time and encourage self efficacy.

The role

You will provide one to one support to people over the age of 18 who live in Warrington. You will support people to become independent by delivering time limited one to one interventions and by delivering group work to improve overall wellbeing.

You will carry out holistic assessments and create action plans for you clients. You will encourage them to take greater responsibility for their own lives and will help with issues including depression and anxiety, stress, loneliness, isolation, poverty, addressing skills gaps and building resilience and confidence. 

Most of the work will take place between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday (37 hours per week) but occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

You will work at sites across the town including a number of community centres and will be based at Whitecross Community Centre.  

This role is a 12 month fixed term post.

What's needed?

You will need experience of providing one to one support to adults and delivering group interventions to adults as well.

You need to be flexible, motivated to help people, be able to work independently, sometimes under pressure and have sound planning and organisational skills. You will link in with, and work closely with, a wide range of internal and external partners.

Knowledge of services in Warrington would be an advantage.
