Family Cycle skills

Bikeability Family is a brand-new free training package to help people living in the same household cycle together.

The training will enable families to plan enjoyable group rides, switch from driving the school run to cycling it, help other family members to develop their cycling skills and confidence.

Adult Cycle Training

Did you know that if you're over 16 and live, work or study in Warrington, you can get free training? There are Bikeright Freewheeling cycling courses for everyone from beginners to experienced riders.

Their friendly instructors are fully accredited, and courses are available at a time that suits you.

Courses are available for small groups or on an individual basis. Why not get a few of your friends together and get out there?

Children's cycle training

We also offer the following free Bikeability cycle training to all children in Warrington via schools or courses run during the school holidays

  • Bikeability balance for children in reception and year 1
  • Bikeability learn to ride for non-riders, normally in year 3 upwards
  • Bikeability Level 1 is designed to give your child control over his / her bike and takes place in groups in a space away from traffic such as a playground or closed car park. Suitable for year 4 upwards
  • Bikeability Level 2 will ensure your child is prepared for short journeys such as cycling to school. Training takes place in small groups on quiet, local streets, giving trainees a real cycling experience. Suitable for year 5 upwards
  • Bikeability Level 3 is recommended for older children/teenagers and adults. Trainees are equipped with skills needed for more challenging roads and traffic situations. Training is delivered one-to-one or in groups of up to 3 so can be tailored to a trainee’s individual needs. Route planning is also covered, making this ideal for getting advice on and then practicing a school or work commute.

Warrington trained over 3,000 children and teenagers in the academic year 2023/24 and achieved a national top 10 place for the delivery of cycle training across its schools.
