Making a claim

There are two categories to choose from, those in working age and those that are retired:

The easiest and quickest way to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support is through our online portal using your online account.

Don't have an account yet? Setting one up is easy and will also allow you to manage your Council Tax online.

Working age

Homeowner - You own your own home you can claim help with your council tax

Rented housing - You pay rent to a landlord. Claim help with your council tax with us and claim help with your rent (housing costs) through Universal Credit in a separate claim.

Supported exempt housing - here are extra costs in your rent for personal support. You can claim help with your rent (housing costs) and council tax.

Temporary accommodation - You have been placed by the Local Authority in temporary housing. You can claim help with your rent (housing costs) and council tax
 

Pensionable age

Homeowner - If you own your own home you can claim help with your council tax

Rented housing - You pay rent to a landlord claim help with your rent and council tax

Moving home

If you have moved house, you need to also complete a form to register yourself for council tax.
