UPSVLP 2319
The plan involves the loss of around 1000 acres of greenbelt land from South Warrington, thanks to the unneccesary 'Urban Extension' and associated construction of thousands of houses on currently unspoilt green spaces. The existing Green Belt boundary was only confirmed 7 years ago and at that time was set in place for 20 years! How will the council be able to prevent further loss of greenbelt land to greedy developers, once a pResident has been set through this very short sighted local plan?
The loss of this land to housing is clearly irreversible and would be an extremely dangerous approach to fulfilling the perceived need for additional housing. It would cause a massive increase in traffic on an already stretched infrastructure, and strip the environment of the much needed 'lung capacity' that green spaces deliver, not to mention the reduction in the ability of land to absorb ever increasing rainfall predicted as a consequence of our changing climate. Unfortunately concrete and tarmac do not absorb water, so flooding is an obvious consequence.
The consequences of building on an enormous scale on greenfield sites are many and permanent, and include destroying the beauty of the natural landscape, reduction in air quality, loss of the individual character of the area's villages due to urban sprawl
.Please look at developing more brown field sites instead? .... Leave the greenbelt intact., to do it's job of cleaning our air and providing much needed natural beauty surrounding this grey town.
I know nothing about legal compliance, so maybe I'm in the wrong place? .... Just do the right thing and avoid building unnecessary housing on our beautiful greenbelt! Thats all.
