No justification for the scale of greenbelt release, in particular considering the current climate situation, there is no need to destroy the landscape and character of our villages, no need for the harm to air quality and local ecology, there is an increased risk of flooding by building on flood plains such as Thelwall Heyes, no explanation of how the transport infrastructure can handle the increased traffic, houses are not affordable. All available options for delivering the planning strategy should have been explored, however, the building on brownfield has not been utilised fully for housing for example sites such as Fiddlers Ferry.
I believe the plan is legally compliant, but do not support the plan as all options for delivering the planning strategy should have been explored, the impact of the plan on the local communities has not been considered, there is no infrastructure with regards increased traffic or facilities such as hospitals, schools, doctors, dentists etc being provided prior to the building of the houses, the hospital is already at breaking point. The environmental and ecological impact of the loss of green belt has not been properly assessed in the revised plan. There are may brownfield sites available which should be utilised first.
Prioritise the utilisation of brownfield sites and clearly state what the exceptional circumstances are for building on greenbelt, which I believe should not be taken in particular in light of the current climate change situation, provide the infrastructure prior to building houses, advise how the increased traffic will be accommodated, provide detail of how the plan will result in the regeneration in the town centre or preserve the identity and distinctive character of our area, both of which I believe are Warrington Council policy objectives.
