Given the rise in fuel prices and the cost of living, ensuring you are accessing all available benefits is important. Life changes such as retirement, bereavement or children leaving the family home all provide opportunities to reflect on our finances and living arrangements.

Why does this matter?

As we know people are living for longer, making a review of household expenditure more advisable than ever. This can ensure peace of mind, in relation to our financial security as we age. We also know that cold weather affects the health of older people, so it important to prioritise adequate heating of the home in winter to reduce the risk of flu, heart and respiratory disease, falls and hypothermia.

As we age, we need to consider whether our home is fit for purpose and whether any home adaptions are necessary to support our independence.
